Built in the 1960′s the Ballymun Towers and Flats were supposed to be the answer to the dilapidated tenement buildings in Dublin city.
My photo today is of the Plunkett tower which is the last tower standing. The rest of the towers and some of the flats were demolished starting in 2004 with the Pearse tower. The MacDonagh and MacDermot towers were demolished in 2005 using controlled explosions. Wish I had of been there to photograph that!
