Natural History Hippo

Took a trip into the Natural History and National Museum of Ireland in Dublin today with my son Jack. Jack is animal crazy and I had promised him a trip to the museum for a long time. We had a great time looking at all the different species of native animals. However, the “World Animal” collection upstairs was Jack’s favorite with Hippo’s, Elephants, Whales, Eagles, Sharks and lots more.

Its a real pity that the two balcony levels above are now closed to the public. I remember walking around up there as a kid looking at the smaller animal collection and listening to the creaky floor boards. Its amazing that entrance is still free to these wonderful national collections of animal specimens and treasures. I would pay in, its well worth a visit.
