Got the Lux

I can’t put my camera down since it came back from Leica. I was very happy with the camera before but its far better now. I only really noticed the focusing issues when I started using the 50mm Summilux at f/1.4. I wasn’t even sure if there actually was a problem at first, but after some testing I decided that it was worth sending both the camera and lens away to Leica to be calibrated.

Its safe to say that whatever Leica did to the rangefinder mechanism and lens worked at treat. I’m able to nail focus now at f/1.4 on nearly every shot. I just love the way this lens renders the out of focus areas. As far as sharpness goes, it will knock your socks off. Its probably too sharp for portrait work but I think is nice to have the sharpness and work the wrinkles out in post.

Processed in Aperture 3.2.2 and Photoshop CS5.

Shot details : – ISO 160, 50mm, 0 ev, f/1.4, 1/90
